Swigs Bar and Grill
Oakfield Dr. & 30 St SW (Cedarbrae)

Hope to see you out on the 16th for what is shaping up to be an excellent pre-Christmas party!
Ho, Ho, Ho and a bottle of Rhum and all that one would expect with staying on Christmas Island while spending Christmas in the Caribbean..(a hint of a few songs that the pH Unbalanced Band will be playing).
The band starts playing at 9 PM, but plan on arriving between 7 and 8 PM so that we can get seats together.
So put the flip flops on, wear your most colourful tropical wear and come on out and have some Christmas cheer with your fellow Parrot Heads.

- 50/50 tickets
- Silent auction
Price of admission:
Donation to the Calgary Veterans Food Bank
We will also have proceeds of the silent auction go to support PADS Calgary and Children's Soup Program - Meals on Wheels.
We're also really pleased to announce that Brian Neale (www.northernharbour.com) and DJ Rocky will be our live entertainment that night. Brian & Rocky are making the trip from Toronto to play our event. We are very fortunate that they enjoy entertaining the Calgary Parrot Head Club.
Brian will also be playing some songs from his new album that he is busy recording in Nashville. So mark this date down on your calendar – it is Remembrance Day on the Friday – so it is very appropriate indeed that we are supporting the Veterans.
We will gather the donated food at [Pub Name Removed] and then arrange for pick up.
Ashlea is still looking for volunteers for that night – so if you can help us out we would really appreciate it. We need people to work the door, and also to help decorate at 5:00 pm. It would really make her job easier to hear back from you if you can help. Thank you Ashlea for stepping up to the plate and taking this on.
There will be some great food and drink specials for the evening. Hawaiian Pizza and Burgers for $10 each and Coronas for $5. This is always a great event and will be our 16th annual.
We are still looking for silent auction items and door prizes. If you can donate to our great cause – please E-mail Vida:

Buffett has just announced 2 shows in Vegas this fall – the first being October 18th and the 2nd being Saturday, October 25th, 2008. There are still no closer venues. Last year we had 2 great groups go from Calgary on different weekends. So far, we have a sizeable group going, and October 18th is the target concert date for the group.
Update 11-May-2008: As of this writing, tickets are available through TicketMaster now.
If you show your membership card at the Margaritavilles in Key West, New Orleans & Vegas, as a Club member you receive a 10% discount. (Vida mentions these 3 as they are the ones that have been mentioned on the message board.) This probably applies in the Caribbean locations as well. We are sure that if you were to whip out your membership card at other locations the 10% will apply. This is only for merchandise in the store, not food or drink.
If anyone is traveling in the next little while where there are Margaritavilles – and you are granted the 10% discount (or not) please let Vida know. This apparently is “not in stone” – but people have been granted the 10% discount. For anyone who has been to a Margaritaville location – you know how easy it is to blow $200 bucks on merchandise (well, that’s $20 in your pocket.)
Yet another reason to stay or become a proud card-carrying Calgary PHC member!……

Our Spring Phling date is confirmed with Friars and they have once again hired the pH Unbalanced band for this event. For those of you that don’t know our history – this event is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it helps immensely when we do not have to pay band costs. Instead, all money raised will go to the Salvation Army Children's Village Breakfast Program.
This is a ticketed event – tickets will be $10 for Calgary PHC members and $15 for non-members….. We are always looking for door prizes for this event – so if anyone has anything to donate – that would be great.
Mark the date down – the event will be at Friars once again where Kim and her wonderful staff will host us. More details to come...

Weather permitting, we will be on the patio and Vida will bring the boom box together with some Buffett CD ’s

Next Phlocking:
Our next phlocking will be on Saturday, Feb 9th at 3:30 pm at the Hose & Hound Pub in Inglewood. Gather at the Hose-And-Hound Pub in Inglewood in the parking lot at 9:30 AM. Bring your coffee; Baileys will be supplied. Please bring work gloves if you can. This year we will be wearing parrot attire (leis, grass skirts, etc.), but no flip-flops. Plus, pants (as opposed to shorts) are recommended to avoid being scratched by bushes. We will clean the river banks and reconvene at the Hose-and-Hound for lunch and beverages.
If any questions, please call the coordinator, Loralyne, at (403) 278-6990.
PH Unbalanced Band will be back there again. Come out in full costume -- it's a beach party! :-) Friar's Pub: Glenmore Landing (90th Avenue and 14th Street S.W.)
